My fellow Americans, for far too long we have been held under the thumb of tyranny. In the name of "progress," we've had our performance held back. In the name of "progress", we've had our wrenches replaced with tablets and Bluetooth. In the name of "progress" (and reliability and safety I suppose), we have still been denied a 1000HP 2000LB-FT engine as a factory option in a pick-up truck. And the greatest travesty to befall the automotive industry in history, is the systemic search and destruction of the single greatest piece of automotive technology, the manual transmission. Let us not fade quietly into the night, to be over-run by the digital age. When the power goes out at a school, hospital or government institution, do they say, "Quick, reposition the windmills!"? No, they know the DIESEL generator will step in to provide the needed power to keep the lights on and people safe. When an electric car owner runs out of battery in a snow storm, do they point a battery operated flash light at a solar cell to charge their car? No, they call for roadside assistance, and either get towed to a charger (via a DIESEL truck) or get plugged in on site by a recovery vehicle carrying a DIESEL generator. Do the goods we haul via train across this great nation get done electrically? NO! Well, yes, kind of. The main drive engines of a locomotive are electric, HOWEVER, the electricity is provided by a DIESEL generator.
