Make the Most of Your Powerstroke's Heat Riser Valve! BD's BrakeLoc connects to the engine heat riser valve's control wire, turning the factory heat riser valve into an electronically-controlled exhaust brake. Automatic transmission-equipped trucks require the use of the BD AutoLoc computer to manage torque converter lock-up values for maximized retarding power, which comes standard with the kit.
Note that, because the heat riser is activated electronically, there is typically a 2-3 second delay between the time the valve is actuated and engine retarding occurs.
